CSNA Architects completely renovated this 1964 masterpiece by legendary architect Marcel Breuer to create a more hospitable, modern environment. The building environment was improved, increased access, and expanded learning spaces. The collections were relocated to specialized compact shelving, creating free space for soft seating and social functions. This new space supports the community and student collaboration. A special collections space was designated to house and display The Saint John’s Bible….
This addition to iconic architect Marcel Breuer’s Science Center was a testament to his design mastery. Our directive was that the new building must respect the work of Breuer completely, but without imitation. It must engage the dialogue established by Breuer’s work, with a contemporary statement which stands alone yet not argue, be worthy of attention yet not detract.
