St. John’s University | Alcuin Library Renovation

CSNA Architects completely renovated this 1964 masterpiece by legendary architect Marcel Breuer to create a more hospitable, modern environment.  The building environment was improved, increased access, and expanded learning spaces. The collections were relocated to specialized compact shelving, creating free space for soft seating and social functions. This new space supports the community and student collaboration.

A special collections space was designated to house and display The Saint John’s Bible. The renovation transformed Alcuin into a student centered building and an academic heart and soul for the Saint John’s campus.
